I got this (exact) idea from my fellow blogger Darren who today released a post of five classic movies he’s not yet watched (read his his post here). I thought it was such a cool idea I decided to list ten films and whilst you’re scrolling through likely feeling aghast, confused (and possibly appalled) I just want you to remember that I have seen every Human Centipede movie.
And the Hey Arnold movie.
Twice.
10. Raging Bull

9. ANY James Bond film (the whole way through)

8. Interstellar
7. Back to the Future Part III
6. Frozen
5. The Dark Knight Rises
4. Vertigo

3. Apocalypse Now
2. Suspiria
1. Star Wars (Episode IV: A New Hope)
Yes. Really.

You really should see “Vertigo” Emma. Alfred Hitchcock at his best, and Kim Novak was breathtaking.

Hi Emma I had a similar list around the same time, https://contentforyoublog.wordpress.com/2015/11/19/surprising-classic-must-see-movies-i-have-never-seen-and-dont-want-to-see/

Wait? What?! You’ve never seen Star Wars? Were you raised Amish? :-p Actually my best friend never saw them until he was 25. It was fascinating to watch with him because he didn’t bring any baggage. He just watched them as movies.

I know!!! I am a freak of nature (not implying that Amish people are freaks of nature btw everyone)
It’s funny you say that though because it was only recently, when A New Hope was released that I did realise why I’d never watched any Star Wars movies – my parents never liked them. And I seriously think most people my generation were introduced to them by their parents who were young trendies when the original film was released. So I blame you mum and dad!!! Bastards.
I should watch them really but I almost feel like I can’t be bothered now and everyone else has watched them so what’s the point? 🙂

I feel that way about music. Like my parents liked David Bowie and The Rolling Stones but they had albums of The Beatles and The Beegees and ELO in the house so I grew to appreciate Bowie and The Stones more recently. I hope you enjoy Star Wars and more importantly The Empire Strikes Back.

Yeah that’s very true with me too! My musical taste has changed a lot as I’ve gotten older (obviously still love the Beach Boys..!)
I might never watch them lol but thank you Lloyd 🙂

Emma hasn’t seen Star Wars.
My God, patch me through to the President? Do we know how long we’ve got?
How could this happen?!
Call my wife? Oh no, the kids will be at school still!
Pull it together man!
The choppers are standing by.

I love the Pierce Brosnan gif. May I formally suggest the best Bond movie of each Bond. Goldfinger, The Spy Who Loved Me, Licence to Kill, GoldenEye and Casino Royale. If that list is too long, Skyfall would suffice as indicative of the formula.

You may! I really need to get some Bond films under my belt so thank you very much 🙂 who is your favourite Bond? And I’m glad you liked the gif!! 🙂

My favourite Bond is Connery despite his dated ways. My Bond though is Brosnan if you will. I suspect people feel an ownership over the first Bond they saw at the cinemas and Goldeneye was it for me.

I think Brosnan would be ‘my’ Bond as well 🙂 I know what you mean definitely. I know Connery is a very popular Bond! I have seen clips of him that are pretty funny. I’m sure I saw one where he smacks a lady on the bottom and says ‘clear off this is man’s talk’ or something like that haha!!! 🙂

Yep. Last December I hire out Goldfinger and sit down with my wife and tell her this is the greatest Bond film of all time. Then that happens in the first five minutes. Yeahhh. That was a great way to sell her on it. Different times. 🙂 Brosnan doesn’t do that.

Hahaha! What a brilliant story!! 🙂 “honestly sweetheart, you’ll love it!” and then the biggest, chauvinistic scene, like ever! 🙂
Maybe stick with Brosnan when watching t with the wife 🙂

I never heard of Suspiria, and I still haven’t seen Raging Bull or Interstellar. I liked all the other movies. Spectre is the only Bond movie I haven’t seen. I didn’t think I would like Frozen because every body else likes it so much. But, it was pretty good. I think it fits in with all the other classic Disney movies.

So you watched Frozen and let (it) go of your inhibitions?
I like a film called Frozen but it’s a horror film where three people get trapped in a cable car and someone gets eaten alive by wolves!!!!! That’s MY kind of Frozen 😀
I love the old Disney classics – The Little Mermaid, Dumbo, Peter Pan etc but the modern versions aren’t the same. The only one that came close recently (for me) was The Princess and the Frog. The animation and songs were just like the good old days!
I’m glad I’m not the only person who hasn’t seen Interstellar or Spectre! *high five*

Hahaha! I thought I would be hate-watching it, but I kind of liked it. Speaking of never-seen movies, I still haven’t seen The Little Mermaid or The Princess and the Frog. And I haven’t seen that Frozen that you were talking about. That sounds intriguing! I might have to check that out! I think Interstellar is available on Amazon Prime for free right now, but there is so much other stuff I need to watch, that it may be a while before I get to it. I still want to see Spectre, and I still want to see Creed. I love all the Rocky movies (even Rocky V). By the time I was free to go see Creed, it was already out of the theater! I don’t even think it was in the theater for a month.

To be honest I admire your honesty the most, you don’t care what anyone thinks and that rocks!
Not that watching Frozen is a bad thing, just some people (especially on the internet) do get a little pretentious with their film choices lol. I don’t like all that.
Ooh you MUST watch both of those films, but ESPECIALLY The Little Mermaid. Please! I love it. I’ve watched it however many times and I STILL cry at the bittersweet ending 🙂
How annoying about Creed, I’ve had similar things happen with films I’ve wanted to watch. I think It Follows was in my local cinema for about a day! But 50 Shades of Grey was out for about two months…. hmmmm.
I’m not too familiar with the Rocky movies, but I do love Eye of the Tiger haha! And I watched a bit of the new one Rocky Balboa recently and thought it was pretty good, in a corny ‘life affirming’ way! Not sure what you, a Rocky fan, thinks of that!
I’d like to see Interstellar…actually that’s a lie, I wouldn’t. But I feel I should at some point, like you though I’ve got other stuff I want to watch and they’re more of a priority!

Thanks! Well, I’ve always been the type of person who marches to the beat of his own drum. It was tough when I was younger, but I embrace it now. There’s no such thing as a guilty pleasure in my book! However, I wouldn’t go see Frozen in the theater unless I had somebody with me. That would be kind of creepy. 🙂
I think I can watch The Little Mermaid on Netflix. There are a lot of Disney movies on there, which surprises me. I feel like I know all about The Little Mermaid just from going to the parks, and from know all of the music.
I’m so happy that you love Eye of the Tiger! That was my favorite song when it came out. I kind of overplayed it, but I still love it if I play it every once in a while. And I also love how it sounds like you prefer It Follows to 50 Shades of Grey! No wonder we get along so well!

I love that! 🙂 I’m the same, though when I was younger I probably followed the crowd more… that’s a great thing about getting old – you don’t care what people think!
Oh please do watch The Little Mermaid – and think of me! I love it 🙂 I love the music too! And the Disney parks 🙂 I turn into a little kid when I walk in!!!!
We do get on so well – great minds think alike!!! Eye of the Tiger 😀

Oh man! i was going to watch The Little Mermaid yesterday, but it isn’t available after all. They don’t have The Little Mermaid all the way through The Lion King. Then they have Pocohontas, Hunchback, and Mulan. They do have Hercules. That’s the only one of the movies of that generation that I haven’t seen yet.

What a swizz! 😦 I’m not sure I’ve seen Hercules either. Or Mulan!! What a shame about The Little Mermaid!!!! 😦

You might like Mulan. Eddie Murphy is awesome in it! There is even a training montage. It could have been an ’80s movie! 🙂

Haha, what music is the training montage set to?!!!! 🙂
P.S sorry if I’ve not answered any comments by the way, I’m scrolling through now and I’m sure I missed a few, I wasn’t being rude!!

Haha! The montage is set to “I’ll Make a Man Out of You” by Donny Osmond! It is actually a really good song, and the montage is good, and has some funny parts.
Don’t worry if you miss any comments! I’m the same way, especially on Twitter and Facebook.

That sounds awesome! I love 80s montages 🙂 do you ever watch Family Guy?

Yes! Not every episode, but if I see it on, I’ll watch it, and laugh every time. It takes place in Rhode Island, which is where I’m from. Seth MacFarlane went to college here in Rhode Island.

Wow! Love finding out more info about you 🙂 are you still from Rhode Island? If you know what I mean.
I just wondered because Peter is very into the 80s too and will often do amusing things (and montages!) against 80s music or 80s TV / movie themes 🙂 it makes me laugh so much too!

This is a surprising list, from a film connoisseur like yourself. Have you seen any of these since you wrote this post?
Come to think of it, I’m not sure I’ve watched a James Bond movie all the way through, either.

Thanks Silver Screenings!
No I haven’t seen any of them since writing up that list 🙂 I wonder if I ever will, my ‘to watch’ list grows bigger every day!
I might do another one of these posts.
Have you not even the seen the recent Skyfall? Gosh, that was so popular!! Not that, er, I’ve seen it haha.
Which other surprising classics haven’t you seen (yet)? 🙂
