Thank you so much to my dear, brilliant friend Kim for nominating me for the Blog Tour Award last week.
Kim runs the fantastic By Hook or By Book, a lovely and friendly blog full of book reviews, quotes, news stories and the odd anecdote about Kim’s UPS delivery man…who wears very small shorts by all accounts! So check out her friendly blog if you haven’t already.
I’m sure I’m up for some mickey taking posting these awards in such close proximity but as part of the rules I was asked – very nicely and under no pressure at all – to complete this on Monday 11th May.
So, the rules are:
- Compose a one-time post on a specific Monday
- Pass the tour on to up to four other bloggers
- Give them the rules and a specific Monday to post by
- Answer four questions about your creative process which lets other bloggers and visitors know what inspires to do what you do!
The Questions:
What are you working on at the moment?
Just my blog – but I’ve been telling myself for the last decade that I’ll ‘start my book soon’! I do write short stories but only for fun. I’ve done that since I was a kid but the moment I start thinking ‘seriously’ about something I start feeling pressurised to do it perfectly and then never get anywhere (and I’m lazy).
How does your work differ from others in your genre?
Well I try to write film reviews with a bit of humour and personality. I’m not trying to sell anything except myself I suppose. I’ve never liked stuffy film critiques anyway and I’m not serious enough about film to write ‘proper’ reviews but I enjoy sharing my passion and thoughts. I like being a bit silly from time to time and appealing to people’s sense of humour.
Why do you write or create what you do?
I just enjoy writing stuff I suppose. I’ve never really thought about it before! I’ve always been that kind of person, I like reading and I used to do art when I was a teenager. Oh and I can touch type like a 1950s receptionist so that’s a bonus haha. With my blog I guess it was just the right time, I’d thought about it for a while and just decided to go for it. If I can stick at this I might try something else, who knows.
How does your writing/creative process work?
I just sit there and….write. And then I re-write. I hate planning stuff which will probably always be my downfall. Music also inspires me and tends to help build a picture in my head. I get ‘creative’ ideas all the time, from the silly questions I ask myself (“what would happen if a dinosaur walked into my office?”) to my imagination which terrifies me (or at least makes me jump) on a daily basis. Usually my ideas come from something very small and can fester in my head for years before I have any intention of doing something with it.
My 4 nominations:
You can post on Monday 25th May (if this is convenient!)
So honoured. I wil try and have it up by this Monday 🙂
Great stuff Alex! It was my pleasure 🙂
Wahoo! This is an interesting concept for an award. Nice one Emma!
Thanks so much Anna! Yes it is good, unfortunately I couldn’t really do it justice but a fun award all the same! 🙂
I always wanted to write a book too, but am also quite lazy. Oh well. lol
We could write a joint book about being lazy? Haha.
We could call it ‘The Lazy Writer’ and after the introduction and everything the rest of the book is just blank pages. lol
You’re a genius!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 🙂
Congratulations. Keep up the great work on your blog.
You too Jonathan! And thank you.
Congrats, Miss Emma!!! Very well deserved. Great answers here. And thank you so much for the nomination! I will try my best to get to this! 🙂
Thank you Miss Cara!!! And you’re soooooo welcome!! Don’t worry at all if you can’t get round to it, I know what it’s like haha 🙂 🙂 🙂
“the moment I start thinking ‘seriously’ about something I start feeling pressurized to do it perfectly and then never get anywhere (and I’m lazy)…”
You are lazy? you??? Seems to me like your’e handling 50 things at once, dearest! Full time work, part time work, blogging AND writing short stories… I think you just became my hero!
Haha, sometimes it feels like that! I do feel really busy at times and ironically I’m happiest when I’m on my own at home, reading or watching TV! I’m lucky I can do blogging bits during the day at work when I’m not busy.
Oh you’re MY hero!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ❤ ❤ ❤ you're so lovely and funny and fabulous Reut!!!
My short stories are only for fun (and pretty rubbish!!!) they're sometimes about people I know haha 🙂
Congrats, all!
Thanks Jay!!! ❤
You’re running out of room Emma! Well done.
Best wishes, Pete.
Thanks Beetley Pete! 🙂 🙂
Thanks for thinking of me Em 🙂 I’ll probably end up writing an essay to answer each question! 😀
