For The Love of Mashed Potato

I’ve been absent for a little while (work, sleep, The Chase – the usual) so what better way to celebrate my return with mashed potato. The World’s Best Ever Invention. Food. Invention. Whatever. I LOVE mashed potatoes.

I’m aware that when the delightful Miss Dee Dee Sharp sang for her love of the mashed potato also, she is all likelihood,  referencing to the dance of the same name – but you know what – I don’t care. I like to pretend she’s talking about real, fluffy potatoes all mashed up with milk and butter and for a real treat cheese.

I honestly like to think that one day, I will swing and dance around my kitchen wearing a polka dot skirt and holding a bowl of mashed potatoes, arms outstretched, just as one may do with a small child or puppy. Love in my eyes and in my heart.

Rejoice the mashed potatoes!

  1. I personally, do not care for the mashed potato. If given a choice, I would take fries (chips) or fried in a pan with some nice spices. You can have all my mashed potatoes.

Your comment at the end reminds me of the film “Working Girl”, when Joan Cusack says to Melanie Griffith: “I like to dance around in the kitchen in my underwear. Doesn’t make me Madonna…never will.” And potatoes are the greatest food of all – here is one way to eat them – caviar-topped tater tots! – https://johnrieber.com/2017/02/02/its-national-tater-tot-day-caviar-tater-tots-bacon-n-egg-cups-bacon-oreos-culinary-wizardry/

I actually celebrate the day when Tesco started selling prepared mash in tubs and pots. No more lumps, and extra flavours too, like cheesy mash, and mustard mash. I don’t have it often, but my M.P. feast of choice is some nice juicy sausages, a pile of mash, and lashings of fried onions.
(I fancy that for breakfast now!)
    As ever, Pete. XXX

    Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm….mashed potato…..hmmmmmm….(drools)

  6. Yay! You’re back Ems! I’ve missed you. Hmm. Mashed potatoes I confess are not my thing, but Tom loves them! And I can picture you dancing around in that pola dot skirt!😁

Any thoughts?
