  1. Kevin says:

I will have the controversial opinion: Johnny Storm in the horrendous Fantastic Four films.

In a series of films with dodgy protagonists, baffling plots and downright ludicrous interpretations of some of the most iconic villains in Marvel history, Chris Evans portrays a perfect Johnny Storm. He’s reckless, childish and uses his abilities for the one reason his teammates won’t ever consider: having fun. His clashes with The Thing are quintessentially Human Torch.

Everyone involved in those films gets a bad rap, and most of them deserve it, but he was genuinely good, because not only did he bring the character’s bravado and cheerfulness as I just said, but there was a nuance to his portrayal. His carefree attitude masked insecurities and fears about his role, the pressure of his responsibilities and his fraternal need to protect his sister, who clearly doesn’t need him for that. Those are all fascinating elements of the Human Torch character and Chris Evans managed to convey them to the audience.

I like your controversial opinion! And it makes sense to me 🙂 probably the film itself prevented The Human Torch from being in this poll but I agree with you! And he does play it well 🙂

The only film on the list I have seen is ‘Sunshine’. To be honest, I don’t remember him in it, but voted for that as the only option left.
