About emmakwall

me

I make no guarantees on the substance or the intelligence you will find here. But great to see you anyway!

So as well as laying on the sofa watching quiz shows, I really like films – and talking about films – and listening to film soundtracks. Horror is my favourite genre.

I don’t like taking things too seriously and enjoy injecting some fun and humour (or a vague representation at least) into my posts. So take a look around and hopefully you’ll find at least one thing you can stomach.

And yes I did nick part of my blog name from  the classic 90s kids TV show Clarissa Explains it All – I don’t really think I know everything. Just SOME things, like the most important things, like which crisp flavour is really the Ultimate Flavour?

  1. You had me at “Ben Wheatley fan.” So, did you see Kill List? What did you make of that? Can’t wait for Highrise! Rad site. I’m enjoying the view. Gonna take a better look around -now- 😉

      Yay!

I bloody LOVE Kill List!!!! I’ve enjoyed every film of his I’ve watched but I think Kill List is my favourite. The only thing I didn’t like (a tiny, weeny bit) the first time I watched it, was the ambiguity. And it’s not that I have to be spoon-fed a story, but I don’t like nonsensical things happening with no real explanation. We could all do that!

However, I have watched it a few times since AND done a lot of internet research haha and I think I know the plot.

HIs films are very dark aren’t they. He takes real life but often highlights the darkest parts. I just think he’s a really original director and writer and the fact he’s British is just the icing on the cake! Down Terrace is my second favourite. And cant’ bloody wait for Highrise yes!!!! High Rise and The Hateful Eight – my two top films of 2015 🙂

      • Well, this affirms your good taste. Plus… honesty vs pretentiousness… I’m digging it.

I’ve only seen List once, but I remember the same disorientation. Then I started to form my own interpretation. I didn’t read up, so maybe you can help. I’m thinking, occult stuff. I guess buddy accepted a sacrifice (ate the backyard bunny), followed the old ways unknowingly, thus becoming new vessel for Old Horned One, Mr Satan. The end was exhilarating. It’s rare for a movie to shake me, and keep me playing catch up, in good ways.

And as for Hateful Eight… don’t get me started. It’s at the top of my list too. Dang. So are you married or what? 😉 jokes

Aww thank you! That is really cool as I get sick of pretentious attitudes. One of my favourite films is Face Off and I couldn’t give a hoot!

I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head with your theory and I never once thought about that rabbit being an offering!!!! You are clever 🙂

It was such a strange film though wasn’t it. Even that vicar saying “thank you” before he shot him, there was so much I needed to piece together!

I think Ben Wheatley made a portmanteau horror with some other directors, I can’t remember what it’s called and I haven’t seen it but if you like horror films it could be worth a watch!

So it that a proposal then, or what?! Ha ha.

          • Face Off? Like I could eat a peach for hours, Face Off? Right on. As for Kill List, sometimes I dig too deep, but that was definitely a movie to dig deep.

And the chariot will arrive at 11:55pm. It might be a little round, a little too orange, but like 5 minutes later it’ll gets real spiffy. 😉 Is this shoe yours? I think it only fits fellow movie nerds, Cinema-rella style…. dur, too cheesy? Haha

Sightseers is great! Had a brilliant line in it that I always remember “he’s not a person he’s a Daily Mail reader” haha.

Down Terrace is another Wheatley movie, it’s set in a house with a family. It’s odd. Typical Wheatley! Not sure how to describe it really. Michael Smiley is in it (Kill List) and a guy that got murdered in Sightseers too. It’s about family feuds, murder, betrayal, drugs. It’s just….typical Wheatley!

I changed my header pic on twitter to a still shot from High-rise btw 🙂 after our conversation!!
