Darren – Movie Reviews 101
Deadpool has become my favourite superhero film of the modern universes because we got to see a character that knows we are watching him and plays into our hands. The character himself is hilarious throughout and can handle himself in a fight. We know we get plenty of popular culture references whenever he is on the screen too.
Kim – Tranquil Dreams
Wolverine
While this might sound like a really generic choice, I’m not…

Magneto, very good choice there Emma. For film versions, I’ll have to agree with you on that one.
For the comics, my choice is a bit controversial: Cyclops. For a few reasons…
Thanks Kevin!!!!
And I LOVE controversial answers 🙂 please do explain more……
🙂
Ok, so 90s comics Cyclops was a whiny git and it turned him into one of the most reviled X-Men characters ever.
But, during the 2000s, they switched him up, started giving him more responsibilities. After House of M he became the de facto leader of all mutants, particularly when Xavier’s duplicity and years of manipulations come out. Cyclops kicks him out and starts taking care of business.
He becomes a badass leader, and reaches such a level of pragmatism (kinda has to, he’s got the entire mutant population’s fate on his shoulders) that even Wolverine tells him he’s gone off the deep end, leading to a very cool story arc called Schism.
I like the character because he had an amazing character arc that took him from the whiny git to a well-rounded and strong character, yet never losing his humanity or completely going bonkers in a power-lust frenzy. He remains grounded and focused. Best of all, behind closed doors you could see how the pressures of leadership get to him, how much he struggles with every decision, how much that stone face that keeps people calm eats at him.
But for many people, he’s still the 90s character. So you tell them: I like Cyclops and they don’t see why. Hence the controversy.
Geeked-out rant complete 😛
I don’t know characters and tend to be pretty bored by x-men, so I’d just vote for my favourite actors: Alan Cumming, James McAvoy,James Marsden, Ellen Page.
Haha, that’s fine Jay I like that logic!!
When we did our favourite Ryan Reynolds role I had literally NOTHING to go on (I love the guy, but he’s been in some rubbish films and I haven’t seen Deadpool) so I just chose Amityville Horror based purely on his six pack and his low slung PJ bottoms….
And Magneto *cough* is played by James McAvoy *cough*
I have to go with Magneto also Emma. His backstory is so interesting.
I played a video game once where I used Gambit. Is he in the movies, too?
Taylor Kitsch played Gambit in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. More excitedly they’re aiming to make a Gambit movie soon with Churning Butter in the lead role. You may know him as Channing Tatum.
Thanks 🙂
I think I’d say Professor X.
Good choice 🙂
He’s a really intelligent man and so powerful.
And very suave 🙂
He’s a cool dude.
I just did a magazine cover post and put Danny Dyer on especially for you!
I don’t know the films that well, but I voted for Magneto, because he is played by Ian McKellen.
(And a little bit because it was your choice too….) xxx
Aww Pete! You charmer 🙂 I like the fact he’s played by Ian McKellen too, he and Patrick Stewart offered some class to these movies! xxx
Quicksilver! The Evan Peters version!
Great choice Mike! 🙂
